A few months ago we had some issues with our daughter being a scooter rebel around the neighborhood. Besides playing chicken with a jeep, yes that’s my daughter and yes there were consequences, she was going further around the block than we cared for.
Since I work from home as a health coach, and write this blog, I’m not able to be outside with her. Not that I’m much of a helicopter parent anyways. So a friend of ours told us about the gizmo watches.
After reviewing the gizmo watches and a few others, we went with the gizmos. They were more cost efficient and had more features than any of the other watches we looked at.
Here’s some of our favorite features:
They have their own independent phone numbers that are connected to the Verizon 4G network. No wifi needed.
The kids can make and receive phone calls and text messages to 10 phone numbers that I approve and program.
Accurate GPS tracking as well as perimeter settings to keep the kids from going too far. I get an alert any time they pass their boundary.
A daily to do list to remind the kids of their daily chores such as feeding the pets or reading a book before bed.
The watches themselves only give the kids so many canned text responses that they can send. There isn’t a keyboard of any kind to type their own message. If any of the responses, such as ‘I’m home’ or ‘I missed the bus’, aren’t what my kid needs, they send me a voice message. Needless to say, I get a lot of voice messages.
Overall, we’ve loved having the watches and I’ve recommended them to several of my friends already.
